Many of the largest companies that LivePerson was working with just wouldn\u2019t accept file-sharing links, so \u201cwe had to print out things and FedEx things\u201d \u2014 and in at least one case, ship Android tablets pre-loaded with documents.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently this is a broader issue, with research suggesting that services like Box, Dropbox and Google Drive remain among the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2015\/11\/03\/dropboxs-struggle-getting-off-the-blacklist.html\">most<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/blog\/smartphones\/top-mobile-security-concerns-blacklisted-apps-and-password-protection\/\">blacklisted<\/a> apps by enterprise IT departments.<\/p>\n<p>In particular, Bradbury said companies are worried about \u201cfull, two-way file sharing,\u201d so he found a way around it by \u201cbuilding these microsites for each company,\u201d where someone could download documents. From the IT perspective, they are just regular websites, with no capabilities for employees to share documents back, so they stayed off the blacklists.<\/p>\n<p>The problem with microsites, however, is that they\u2019re \u201cnot scalable.\u201d So with Docpack, Bradbury aims to make it quick and easy to create them for a wide range of clients. He compared his approach to website builders like Wix and Squarespace, \u201cWhere you can make a website even if you\u2019re not technical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" size-large=\"\" wp-image-1824886\"=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Screenshot-2019-05-07-11.42.24-1.png?w=680\" alt=\"Docpack\" screenshot\"=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Screenshot-2019-05-07-11.42.24-1.png\" 2400w,=\"\" https:=\"\" techcrunch.com=\"\" wp-content=\"\" uploads=\"\" 2019=\"\" 05=\"\" screenshot-2019-05-07-11.42.24-1.png?resize=\"150,100\" 150w,=\"\" 300w,=\"\" 768w,=\"\" 680w,=\"\" 50w\"=\"\" sizes=\"(max-width:\" 680px)=\"\" 100vw,=\"\" 680px\"=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"453\"><\/p>\n<p>Similarly, it should only take Docpack users a few clicks to create a new microsite, add customized branding and upload documents. These documents can be protected with security that limits access to users with a specific company email domain, and the publisher can also track which documents are actually getting downloaded.<\/p>\n<p>Docpack has raised less than $500,000 in funding from Asian accelerator Zeroth, Trustev founder Pat Phelan and other individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The startup\u2019s standard plan costs $10 per seat. Bradbury suggested that the service could be useful across sales, business development and marketing: \u201cThere\u2019s a huge amount of business transacted via document-sharing.\u201d He also suggested that PR professionals and journalists could use it to share documents, and he\u2019s offering&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.docpack.co\/media\">free accounts for credentialed journalists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As for competition from the big file-sharing services, Bradbury suggested that as they try to accommodate enterprise needs, they\u2019re creating \u201ca product that\u2019s stretched out, that was not really designed at all for cross-company sharing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a big enough space \u2026 that it deserves its own thing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Docpack is offering businesses a simple way to share their documents \u2014 particularly with customers at large enterprises that may block services like Dropbox or Google Drive.
